Episode 205 - The Fender Lead III

In the late 1970s, as guitar sales flagged, Fender sought to make a Stratocaster-like guitar available at a lower price point. The Lead Series was available in three configurations; the Lead III had two Seth Lover- designed humbuckers, complete with switching that allowed them to be tapped for single coil operation. While combining some of the best design from both the Stratocaster and the Telecaster, this instrument was, in the end, neither. Maybe that’s why they were only available for three years. Still, though, they stand as great sounding, unique guitars. Enjoy!
